Welcome to Silver*Pine Farm! I am located in Southern Michigan, near Ann Arbor, Mi. My main focus is raising quality Lamanchas for showing, or anyone looking for a friendly milking pet.
Herd Management
I raise all my babies on CAE prevention and test all my does every other year. All the goats have free access to pasture, which includes a variety of shrubs, weeds and grasses during the summer, and they get grass and alfalfa hay during the winter. My milking girls and pregnant does get a mix of oats, sunflower seeds, and sometimes alfalfa pellets, pregnant does also get a shot of Bo-Se before kidding. I Copper Bolus once a year, and they are given free choice loose minerals and baking soda year round.
Lamancha History
Lamanchas are the only breed that was developed in the U.S.A. and they are significantly different from the other breeds for a few reasons. They're a smaller size with the ability to milk like the larger breeds and they have very little ears. They are super friendly and are always willing to do what you want. Lamanchas are a great breed if you are looking for a good starting breed.
